Hello,I have a problem that is driving me nuts.I have a Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Desktop (Keyboard + Mouse) running on a Dell Inspiron 15 3000 Series with Windows 10 Enterprise 64 bits.Since about the middle of November 2015 (I guess after one the Windows 10 updates) the Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic mouse and keyboard stop responding randomly. Some times I get the error 'USB device not recognized', some times I get no error at all. Unpluggingthe USB receiver and plugging it back in the same or a different USB port gets the mouse and keyboard to work for some time but after a while (randomly) they stop working again.I've search the internet for this problem and similar ones, and basically I've tried everything without success. I've restarted Windows, I've disabled the 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' option in all the USB devices, I've updatedall Dell drivers and I've re-installed the latest Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard driver (MouseKeyboardCenter64bitENG2.7.133.exe) but the problem remains exactly the same.Any help? Thanks! Hi,Welcome to Microsoft Community.I understand that your USB device is not recognized by the laptop. This issue might occur due to various reasons like corrupt drivers, security software etc.A question, what is the make and model of your computer?Firstly, let's identify if the USB drive is listed in Disk Management.

I have installed the latest Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard center but this software can not see the Bluetooth mouse. This mouse was working prior under Windows 7 prior to installing Windows 10. Windows says that the device is 'paired' and when I move the mouse its status changed to 'connected' as I would expect.

Right-click on Windows icon and select Disk management and find if the USB drive shows up there and post back your findings.Let's check the status of the USB device in Device Manager. Go to Device Manger and expand USB controllers and right-click to check the properties and device status.Method 1: Run the Troubleshoot Hardware and Devices.Hardware troubleshooter reviews, diagnose and identifies operational or technical problems within a hardware device.1.

Press Windows Key +R, type Control Panel.2. Type troubleshooting in the search bar, click on troubleshooting.3. Click on Hardware and Devices.4. Follow the steps from the wizard to run the troubleshooter.Method 2: Uninstall and re-install USB drivers:a. Press Windows Key +R and typedevmgmt.msc to open Device manager.b. Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers at the left bottom.c.

Right-click the first USB controller under Universal Serial Bus controllers, and then click onUninstall to remove it. Repeat these steps for the entire USB controller under Universal Serial Bus controllers.e. Restart the computer. After the computer starts, Windows will automatically scan for hardware changes and reinstall all the USB controllers that you uninstalled.Hope this helps. Please get back to us if the issue is not solved we will be glad to help you further. Thank you.Deepak Krishnan R. My guess is that it is a fundamental problem with the Sculpt mouse and/or associated drivers in Windows 10. I just bought the same keyboard/mouse combination and the mouse frequently stops working. I've validated the drivers as being the latest, etc -the problem still exists. My 'simple' way of getting it back working is to go to the 'Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center' application that is installed into Windows.

When this application loads, it re-initializes the mouse. And it will start working again. I end up doingthis about 6 or 8 times a day - and I've lost my patience with this 'hack' approach to the problem. It amazes me that Microsoft's own dang hardware devices don't work with it's own operating system! How ridiculous is this!Hey Microsoft - I'm about to return your nice keyboard and mouse. Unless you can tell me how to truly resolve this issue.

To me, it is a driver issue with the OS and/or the device. The clock is ticking. Best Buy will see me soon. And you'll receive this unit back in your warehouse on your side.Machine: Dell 8700Dale.

Working

Microsoft Sculpt Mouse Not Responding

To get around it I found that I could not have focus on a particular app I needed to get a screen shot of (the print screen button). It was just this one app so I arranged the screen with any other app having focus and then it worked fine. This was an anomaly with that app so I learned to get by and get the job done.

I can imagine how long it would have taken if I had asked that app's author to fix that. There is some utility that Microsoft (MSFT) supplied with that keyboard called Intellikey. I don't use it but you might want to explore it.Bob. Just to eliminate possible causes, try these;1 Is this wireless keyboard battery driven?

If so, replace the batteries. It may be that while the batteries are still able to power much of the keyboard, some keys may fail. Slim, but this is an elimination test.2 Is this wireless keyboard transmitting to some wireless receiver? (I have a Belkin wireless keyboard and mouse, and have a small transmitter connected by wire to the computer). If so, make sure nothing is blocking the signals.3 Similar to 2.

Do you use a landline telephone that has portable wireless handsets? If so, is there a handset near either the keyboard or the receiver, (if there is one)? If so, take it away. Some wireless handsets operate on a similar frequency to wireless keyboards.4 Remove that wireless keyboard and attach a PS2 or USB keyboard and test.5 Try that wireless keyboard set up on another system. These may be minor suggestions, but as I have said, this is an elimination test, and in those we try all sorts.Mark. That might be your problem. You are not saying which top-of-the-line wireless gaming keyboard you have, but I have a 'top-of-the-line' keyboard that costs as much as many whole computers, ($$!) and there are special modes that I could get into that alter the actions of what nearly all the keys do.First, most of those special modes are only implemented, or even accessible, by you first installing the manufacturer's special keyboard driver software.Second, you do not need any manufacturer's special keyboard driver to have the keyboard do the typical 'I would expect' keyboard functions.
